Checklist: Job Application

‘Marketing yourself’ is the motto. A good application always serves as a calling card for you and is the first piece of work you submit. That is why you should ensure your application is of a high standard. It gives us a first impression of you and can be decisive for your future career path. The application should convince us that you are the right person for the apprenticeship or degree place. That is why it is important to invest time and effort in your application, as only the ‘best applications’ will be invited to an interview.

General information

Your application documents should always be complete. They should include a covering letter, a CV and supporting documents (certificates). Make sure your application is neat and avoid spelling mistakes.

Our tip: Feel free to have several people proofread your application. The more people who look over your application, the higher the likelihood that all errors in the content will be spotted.

The cover letter

The cover letter gives you the opportunity to present yourself and is crucial to the overall impression. In your cover letter, tell us why you are applying to FRICKE and why you are interested in the apprenticeship you have chosen. Mention any work experience placements, hobbies or school projects you’ve undertaken that are relevant to the tasks involved in the apprenticeship. What is your motivation for applying? What interests you about your chosen apprenticeship? What are your interests? Write down what you want to convey in as few words as possible.

Our tip: The cover letter should not be longer than one page. A personalised salutation, correctly spelling the name of the contact person, and mentioning the apprenticeship role on offer show us that you have done your research. Very important: Don’t forget to mention which role and which location you are applying for.

Your CV

Your CV provides an at-a-glance overview of your personal and professional background. It should be clearly structured and organised chronologically to give us a quick overview. It’s best to put the most recent information right at the top.

Our tip: Gaps in your CV do not look good and cast you in a bad light. You should therefore try to avoid gaps in your CV or provide a clear explanation for them.

The photo

Make sure your photo looks professional and that you appear well-groomed in it. A well-groomed appearance means well-styled hair and smart clothing. Furthermore, the photo should reflect your current appearance and should not be more than six months old.

Our tip: Don’t skimp on the photo! Invest a few euros in professional photos taken by a photographer. The difference is noticeable.

Your attachments

Attachments provide evidence to support the details in your CV and offer a more detailed description than is possible within the CV itself. The attachments should be organised in the application pack in the order in which they are listed in your CV. Attachments include, for example, school reports, internship certificates and other certificates. Your school report is the most important attachment and serves as a key factor in our assessment.

Our tip: It is no longer necessary to have your school reports certified. It is advisable to always include your last three school reports, as these demonstrate your academic progress.

Apply online or by email

There are two ways to apply to FRICKE: you can submit your application directly online or by email; both options are available.

When applying, please ensure that you attach your documents as PDF files and that each individual attachment does not exceed 5 MB in size.

Our tip: The ease of use of our online form should not obscure one important point: we require a complete set of application documents. We prefer a single file containing all the documents.
