Discover how the WE ACT team at FRICKE promotes environmental protection and workplace comfort through sustainable initiatives, such as reducing screen brightness and hands-on workshops for apprentices. Small actions, big impact – learn more about sustainability at FRICKE!
UncategorizedZurückOn Wednesday, 6th November, 2024, the WE ACT team, together with four apprentices, carried out a successful initiative: they reduced the screen brightness in all office spaces to 80%.
This measure brings three key benefits: reduced brightness decreases eye strain, improving workplace comfort. Additionally, the initiative contributes to environmental protection and lowers energy costs.
Small Step – Big Impact
Reducing screen brightness by 20% alone can save approximately 11,000 kWh of electricity annually – equivalent to the yearly consumption of several single-family homes.
What was particularly encouraging was that many employees had already independently reduced their screen brightness to 80% or less. This reflects the strong environmental awareness already present within the FRICKE Group.
To ensure the lasting impact of this initiative, small stickers featuring the slogan “WE ACT – We’re Involved!" were placed on the computers after the adjustment. These stickers are intended to remind employees to maintain their brightness settings and to promote sustainability awareness in daily life.
A Valuable Experience for the Apprentices
For the four apprentices, the initiative was an invaluable experience. They had the opportunity to meet colleagues across all departments and actively participate in a sustainability project. This hands-on involvement was seen as a unique learning opportunity.
The initiative was a resounding success and demonstrated how even simple measures can help protect both the environment and the health of employees.
Sustainability Workshop at FRICKE: Theory Meets Practice
In September, a sustainability workshop led by Kirsten and Laura provided the apprentices with valuable insights and practical tips on how to make their daily lives and the company more sustainable. The workshop aimed to deepen awareness of sustainable actions and develop concrete measures for implementation in both personal and professional settings.
At the beginning of the workshop, the apprentices were introduced to the topic of “Sustainability in Everyday Life" and familiarized with basic principles and the importance of sustainable decisions.
A key component of the workshop was group discussions, which encouraged participants to reflect on and critically examine their own behavior. Afterwards, they brainstormed ideas on how to make the workplace at FRICKE and their private lives more sustainable.
A highlight of the workshop was the presentation of independently developed business ideas with a focus on sustainability. Putting themselves in the position of a large company sparked creative and exciting ideas.
Tips for Everyday Life
To conclude the workshop, participants received practical tips on how to integrate sustainability into their daily routines. These tips included using a seasonal calendar for purchasing fruits and vegetables, avoiding plastic packaging while shopping, and the importance of proper waste separation.
The workshop provided a solid foundation for the practical implementation of sustainable practices – both at home and in the workplace.
Both the workshop and the screen brightness initiative illustrate one important takeaway: small actions can lead to significant change.
